British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) — Skilled Workers

The BC Provincial Nominee Program’s (PNP) Skills Immigration stream is designed for those with the proper skills, experience and qualifications necessary to work with B.C. employers. This particular stream is for those who intend to live and work in B.C. and hope to eventually become permanent residents of Canada.

In order to be eligible to this program, applicants must satisfy the following criteria in one of the categories:

Skilled workers – managers, professionals and skilled trades people.

  •  Occupation must be classified as Skill level 0, A or B in the National Occupation Classification Matrix;
  •  Employer must arrange and present a formal written offer of employment on official company letterhead;
  • Must be able to support continuing housing and living expenses in B.C.
  • Be eligible or already have legal immigration status in Canada.

Health Care professionals – registered nurses, midwives, registered psychiatric nurses, allied health professionals and physicians.

If you fall under this category, you may apply to the PNP through the health care professional category given you are sponsored or possess a full-tiem job offer from a public health authority as a as a: Physician/Specialist/Registered nurse/Registered psychiatric nurse/Nurse practitioner/An allied health professional such as a:, Diagnostic medical sonographer, Clinical pharmacist, Medical laboratory technologist, Medical radiation technologist, Occupational therapist, Physiotherapist.

International graduates

  • Have a degree or diploma from a Canadian college or university, or
  •  Have a master’s or doctoral degree in the natural, applied or health sciences from a B.C. university (for this category only, you do not need to have a job offer

Entry-level or semi-skilled workers in tourism/hospitality, food processing and long-haul trucking

Requirements:

  • Must be currently employed full-time in an eligible position for by an employer in B.C. for a minimum of 9 consecutive months prior to application;
  • Must already have an offer for full-time unspecified employment from an eligible employer at a wage necessary to be economically stable while residing in B.C.
  • Provide evident that you are able to support yourself and (if applicable) dependents;
  • Previously have gained 12 years of education and licencing or certification required for the occupation;
  • If applying for a Skill Level C or D occupation, applicants must be proficient in the English language;
  • Already have or are eligible for legal immigration status in Canada

Entry-level or semi-skilled workers who are living in the northeast region of the province

Those who are currently employed in the Northeast Development Region as a temporary foreign worker in any occupation listed as Skill Level C or D by the National Occupational Classification Matrix may be qualified for the PNP. Occupations included in these skill levels often require a secondary school education, occupation-specific training or on-the-job training. Examples of these occupations consist of, but are not limited to mine service workers, heavy equipment operators, machine operators and retail sales clerks.
