British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) — Business Immigration

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program speeds up the Permanent Resident application process. The BCPNP is for those whom are experienced entrepreneurs intending to invest whilst actively managing an eligible business in BC.

Business Immigration falls into the following three categories:

• Entrepreneur category
• Regional Entrepreneur
• Strategic projects

Each category contains a different set of requirements in terms of the minimum personal net worth of the applicant, amount of investment, the geographic location of BC and the number of Canadian employees that are included in the proposed business.

The Entrepreneur  category is the optimal choice for those who intend to start or purchase and expand a business in BC. Applicants must also:

• Have a personal net worth of $800,000 or over
• Investing a minimum of $400,000 and acquiring a third of owner’s equity of the business
•  Create at least three new jobs for Canadian citizens and/or permanent residents
• Must recommend one key staff member in your application

The Regional Entrepreneur category is for those who are looking to start or purchase and expand a business outside of the Vancouver and Abbotsford areas. Applicant must adhere to the following:

• Have a personal net worth of $400,000 or over
• Invest a minimum of $200,000 and acquiring a third of owner’s equity of the business
• Create at least one new jobs for a Canadian citizen and/or permanent resident

The Strategic Projects category helps foreign-based companies looking to establish an eligible business in BC with the timely entry of up to 5 foreign key managerial personnel, professional or technical staff. This category is best if:

• Your company intends to establish an operation within BC
• You company is willing to invest in a minimum of $500,00 into the business
• Are able to recommend up to 5 key staff members on the application
• Create at least three new jobs for each of the key staff members

The Regional Business Succession option is the best choice for those who plan to purchase and manage an existing business in BC. This option relates to all business immigration categories that include business located outside of the Vancouver and Abbotsford metropolitan areas. In addition, the Regional Business Succession offers priority application processing and reduced job creation requirements.
