Alberta Immigration Nominee Program (AINP) – Business Immigration

The Alberta Provincial Nominee Program (AINP) is a government immigration program that seeks individuals who can demonstrate that they have the qualifications and aspiration to immigrate and settle, along with their families, in Alberta.

Applicants may choose to apply to the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) through one of the following streams:

Self-Employed Farmer Stream

The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) assists farm owners/operators with proven managerial skills and a substantial amount of financial capital sufficient enough to develop a profitable farming business in Alberta.

In order to be accepted under this program, applicant must have acquired the following:

  • Previous farm management experience in an existing farm business
  • Relevant education, training and work experience
  • An already established business plan for the farming business to be proposed in Alberta
  • Present evidence that a financial institution in Canada is willing to invest and finance the proposed business
  • Have the ability to invest at least $500,000 CDN of owner’s equity in a production based farming business located in Alberta
  • Must have a net worth of $500,00 CDN or authorization funds from another source
  • Applicants may also be required to prove that they are able to invest greater than the $500,000 CDN minimum

Please also note that the farm owner/operator category is restricted to businesses in the agriculture industry. Priority will be issued to those whose business plan represents the best opportunity for growth based on Alberta’s agri-food growth targets. It is best if applicants include their investment plans and intentions in the projected business plan.
