A Permanent Resident Travel Document is a temporary travel document issued to permanent residents of Canada abroad who do not have a valid permanent resident card (PR Card). A Permanent Resident Travel Document is only valid once to board commercial carrier to return to Canada.

If you are outside Canada, you have lost your PR card and you need proof of your status to return to Canada, you need to apply Travel Document.
